Serious Business Mobile Phones

The following is a paid post:
Whatever line of work you are in, you most likely need to make use of a business mobile phone. Having a mobile phone with a business emphasis will let you do your work much faster and more efficiently in most cases.

New Smartphones that have come out, such as the Nokia E65 will let you email on the road. You can use POP3 email, and use it just like you would on your home or office PC. The E65, like most other business phones, includes quad-band technology that lets you use the phone in almost every country in the world, ideal for the jet-setting business man or woman.

Other phones such as the Nokia N95 come with an Office in your pocket, with the ability to edit, view, or create Microsoft documents such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or even PDFs. Amazingly, some phones such as the Samsung D840 also have a TV out port- which lets you port all of the data to a TV. This is extremely useful for reading long documents, or giving a presentation directly from your mobile phone.

Most business phones aren’t all that generous on storage space, unlike typical multimedia phones, however business applications don’t usually require so much storage as say music or video so that shouldn’t be too big a problem. Some nice extra features normally include only in business phones though are a world clock, currency converter and a calculator.

Mobile phones with an emphasis on business will definitely give you an edge in the workplace, should you need it. Things such as EDGE technology, Web Browsing and Bluetooth will also let you conduct work from your mobile phone. These solutions are great for out of office trips, travel, or even connecting with your workplace on vacation if you are that way inclined. If you do indeed participate in business related activity, a proper business phone can make all the difference with productivity and efficiency.

Keep an Eye on Your Competitor

Keep your friends closer, but your enemies closer. And by closer I mean in your email.

Ever heard of Google Alerts? I use them at work to keep tabs on what media sources are writing about the company I work for. A Google Alert is simply a timed, automated email Google will send you if a story with your selected keywords is published in their search engine.

Here’s what their’ main page says:

Google Alerts are email updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, etc.) based on your choice of query or topic.

Some handy uses of Google Alerts include:

  • monitoring a developing news story
  • keeping current on a competitor or industry
  • getting the latest on a celebrity or event
  • keeping tabs on your favorite sports teams

So you can imagine how useful this tool is for keep track of your competitors. Let’s say you create a site about fly fishing. Maybe you don’t know who all your competitors are, or you want to find out what they’re writing about. Well, sign up for an alert, plug in the keyword ‘fly fishing’ and select comprehensive, news, blog, or web (I usually pick comprehensive) and Google will email you every day with everything your competitor is publishing.

Of course you can also use this tool just for your own personal enjoyment. I plugged in the keyword “florida gators” and get an email every morning with all the latest Gator news.

Bootmoney

I’m sure a lot of you have heard of Bootmoney – Powers to Make the Dollars… it’s a Shoemoney parody site. Bootmoney is only about a week old and he’s already getting the attention of a lot of DigitalPoint members. I have no idea how Jeremy feels about this guy making fun of him everyday, but you have to think he doesn’t give a rat’s ass.

It’s always nice to have someone bring humor to our business. If you can’t laugh at what you do then you’re taking life too serious. Bootmoney’s posts are funny. They’re so obnoxious and make fun of everything we do. His writing style reminds me of Jon Waraas a little bit. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he’s the one behind Bootmoney.

Just look at the logo he has at the top. That’s funny as hell. A god awful paintbrush ripoff of Shoemoney’s logo. Then he has a disgusting looking adsense ad at the top that is pink and neon green.

One of the best features on his blog is the Next-Gen Keyword Tool. You can type in any keyword you have and “you’ll get highly targetted and low-competition keywords right there for you to copy and paste.”

Check out on of his very first tips to get started in affiliate marketing: “Quality score in Google is way overrated. Bid as high as possible on keywords, and you’ll get the volume and therefore insane amounts of revenue. I’ve been known to bid $9 per click in Google for ringtones, that’s one of my secrets to getting thousands of clicks daily.”

If you need a laugh, just head over there and read through the blog and the comments.
