Why Do More than 95% Of Marketers Fail?
When I can’t think of a topic for a post I’ll head over to DP for an idea. I came across this thread in the Marketing Section. Why do more than 95% of marketers fail?
My initial response was that they quit or give up. But let’s take a look at what some of the other responses were.
- Impatience
- Lack of knowledge and creativity
- Lack of focus
- No determination
- Dishonesty with themselves
- Inability to study every day
- Under capitalization
These are all good responses, and I agree with most of them. If you don’t have the determination to succeed in your marketing campaign then you will ultimately fail. You need to set your goals, build a plan, and execute the plan. Being impatient is a sorry excuse for failure. Even a newb knows that to achieve great things, it will require time.
Now, where the question “Why do more than 95% of marketers fail?” loses some people, is that not all failures are bad! Sometimes you will fail a few times before you succeed. It’s happened in almost every entrepreneur story you’ll read. Very, very few people hit a homerun with their first swing.
If you look at the list above and find yourself struggling with a few of them, dissect the issue and search for help. Reach out to friends and see how you can tackle the problem.

great post! I think the main reason is because of impatience! well it is for me anyway
I think that persistence is a vital ingredient. You’ve just got to keep at it and give your different tactics (and programs) a really good go to see if they pay off.
That said, you’ve got to be able to give up on something when it isn’t working, too. Continuing with something that doesn’t work is just plain stupid.
You need expertise in what kind of information you are giving people IMO.
