KingNomar.com Was Sold

Before you read this post you’ve got to check out my buddy Jacob’s blog Make Money Online. You won’t regret it.

My good friend from KingNomar.com has officially sold his blog. Most of my readers are probably familiar with the King Nomar blog. He has been on my friend’s list for a year or more and has been an avid reader and commentator on my blog. He’s a great guy and I congratulate him on the site sale.

If you had paid attention, you might have picked up that something was brewing. King Nomar recently added a custom blog design with increased advertising areas. By beefing up the ad sales and increasing revenues, the blog was able to sell for more money.

Some of you may wonder how he was able to sell a blog with his name in the domain. Well, surprisingly Nomar isn’t his real name. By using a moniker instead of your real name, you stand a much better chance of selling the website for ultimate profits. King Nomar is somewhat of a brand. People know the name and they know it stands for quality.

It was a great sale and a good buy. I actually know the buyer of his blog, and they are very reputable. As long as they continue to post constantly and maintain the level of quality the readers are accustomed too, then they shouldn’t see a drop in traffic.

So ‘Nomar’ won’t be blogging anymore, but he no doubt has something big cooked up for the future. I’ll keep you posted if anything big happens.

TTZ Media: Here I Come

This blog post is brought to you by my friends at Make Money Online.

So I joined TTZ Media back on May 7 and quickly dumped it a few days later. I ran it on my blog, and earned nothing, so I never really thought about giving it a second chance. In my opinion, TTZ Media will work best on product related websites, such as Bob’s Think Computers. People surfing a general websites aren’t about to click on product related ads.

With the late success of Mass Effect Forum, I decided to give TTZ Media another shot by running ads on MEF. MEF is getting a couple hundred uniques per day now that the game has been released, so I thought I could possibly make $1-2 from it. I had been running Adsense on it, but hardly earned a dime.

With TTZ Media I customized the ad to show a specific product (Mass Effect the game). I also am running another ad unit near the footer with multiple Xbox 360 products in it. I’ll only need like 3-4 clicks a day before I start making more then Adsense ever did on this site.

So what does TTZ Media payout?

  • Up to 1000 clicks - 0.15 per click
  • Up to 2000 clicks - 0.18 per click
  • Up to 3000 clicks - 0.22 per click
  • Up to 4000 clicks - 0.25 per click
  • Beyond 0.30 per click

I’m not expecting to make a ton of money from this website. Like I said, I’m hoping TTZ Media can bring me in just $1-2 a day. Although looking at my stats right now I’m at 273 ad impressions and 0 clicks, so who knows if I’ll even get to $1.

I’ll keep everyone posted on how TTZ Media fairs for me this go around. I’ll probably give it 2-3 days before I decide to continue with it, or pull the plug.

How Are My Goals Coming Along?

Back on January 2, 2007, I was tagged and posted my goals for the year. We only have about a month left in 2007, so I thought it would be fun to look back at what I posted, and see if there is still enough time left to achieve the ones I haven’t already done.

1. Make more money - simple as that

I’ve definitely achieved this goal. Just quickly looking back at my Adsense earnings around early January, they were $13/day. I’m not going to say how much more I’m making now, but I’m definitely doing better. Now, I’m running VCM, Adbrite, Azoogle, and CJ to compliment Adsense…all of that contributes to my increase in earnings this year.

2. Start a business - It’s so easy to start an LLC, I don’t know why I haven’t done it yet

Still haven’t done this one yet. I’d really like to get it done by January 1st though so I can be legit going into 2008. Costs about $125 so I don’t know why I’m still procrastinating.

3. Grow Florida Gators to 600-1000 members and 25,000 posts

Right now Gator Envy is at 551 members and 18,600 posts. This will be very close. If I push it hard I should be able to get to 600 members. However, I might not make the 25,000 posts by the end of the year. We’ll see.

4. Make $50/day by December 31st from contextual ads alone

I’d say I was doing that consistently before I lost all my rankings on my two biggest sites. Not sure If I can get it back up by the end of the year unless I get a miracle from Google.

5. Read one business book a month

Definitely didn’t do this one. I read a couple business magazines per month though.

6. Start a sports podcast

Didn’t do this one either, and don’t really have plans to do it now. Would be fun, I just don’t have the time.

7. Start 2-3 more sports forums

I wish I would have achieved this goal, but I didn’t. It’s hard dedicating enough time to run one sports forum, let alone 2-3 more. Expanding my sports network is a priority for me going into 2008, so I can see this being accomplished sometime next year.

8. Make more money

I already talked about this one.

9. Build my stock portfolio and grow it

Well I did build my stock portfolio, but I ended up selling it all and cashing out. I made a couple hundred bucks after a few months of investing. Depending on how my internet earnings grow in 2008, I really want to contribute a lot more money to stocks and get back into it.

10. Make more money

Check!

As you can see, most of my goals were to make more money. By achieving those goals, I’d say I have had a pretty successful year in 2007, despite coming up short on a few other goals. If I can increase my earnings in 2008 by the same degree I did in 2007, then I will be sitting very pretty going into 2009. I’ll need more websites to do it, but I think it can be done.

The Billionaire Blogger

I’ve been reading Calvin Ayre’s blog for about a month or two now and I absolutely love it. I mean, how many billionaires take the time to blog everyday and have their own Myspace account? And I have no doubt that Calvin is the one posting. He doesn’t have some assistant running his blog.

Calvin Ayre is the owner of Bodog, one of the largest online casinos and sports books. I’ve known about Bodog for a couple of years, but first heard about Calvin when he was on the cover of Forbes last year. For more information about him, you can read his wiki.

His biggest issues right now are dealing with a couple of Trolls that stole his domain name (formerly bodog.com). Calvin was forced to move Bodog to a new domain now (now bodoglife.com). Can you imagine other billion dollar companies having to change domain names over night? What if Best Buy had to change domain names? How many customers would they lose? How much money would they lose because of ther SERPs disappearing? It would suck.

But Calvin didn’t let it get to him. According to Calvin’s domain value post, his new domain is worth over $1,000,000 (4 times the worth of his old domain), and that’s just in a few months.

Calvin also posts about events in his life (such as his Halloween parties) and other things he likes (cars). It’s really a personal blog, with a lot of sound business advice thrown into it. It’s really a great read for everyone.

Is it Thanksgiving Yet?

I swear this holiday can’t get here any faster. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Really who doesn’t like it? I feel bad for people outside of America who don’t get to celebrate. Although your country may have a similar holiday on a different day, I don’t really know.

The first Thanksgiving dates back almost 400 year ago when Pilgrim settlers and native Indians got together for a great big feast. They shared their food with one another and gave thanks for their harvest. At least that’s how the story books tell us it happened.

Thanksgiving in my house consists of a ton of eating and football. We have a lot of family coming in to stay at my parent’s house in Jacksonville. We usually have the main feast around 2:00 or 3:00 pm on Thursday afternoon. We have all the good stuff… turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, biscuits, green bean casserole, and a wide variety of yummy desserts. All day we just eat.

Another great thing about Thanksgiving in America is football. This year the NFL has 3 games on Thursday, which means it’s an all day event now. The Jaguars aren’t playing, but all the games are enticing and meaningful, especially when your fantasy football playoff hopes are on the line.

Friday morning all the guys have golf schedule and, if it’s nice out… my entire family will all go out on the boat in the afternoon. I’m not counting on that though because the high could be like 60 degrees.

Saturday is another fun day or just hanging out and eating. The Florida vs. Florida State football game on Saturday late afternoon. I’m not going to the game, but I will be watching it. I have a sister and uncle who are FSU alumni, so it’s a big family rivalry between them and myself (for those of you new to the blog…I am a Florida graduate).

All in all it’s just an amazing few days of fun and being with the family. I’m still at work until Wednesday afternoon, but lucky enough to be able to dip out early. I’m not going to be posting these next few days. I’ve said many times before that I don’t like to work on holidays and that means working on this blog too. I may timestamp something though for tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Google Rankings Are Still Gone

Well it’s been about 3 weeks since I posted Murdered By Google. For those of you who don’t follow my blog, it was about 3 weeks ago that Google completedly deindexed 90% of my two biggest websites. I’m talking thousands of indexed pages just disappeared, and with them, thousands of uniques visitors were also gone.

3 weeks later and my two big websites are no better off then they were. In fact, they may even be worse off. Traffic is still down something like 50%. Earnings are down big time as well. It’s tough going from such an amazing high to virtually rock bottom in a day. It happens to a lot of website owners. You just have to absolutely follow Google’s rules, or else they will get you.

Below are screenshots of statcounter for the two different sites. You can see the sites with normal traffic in August and September, then October is lower (because I got hit at the end of October) and now my traffic for November is on pace for hardly half of what it used to be. I’m disgusted and still angry… yet there’s nothing I can do about it now but wait.

I’ve already removed TLA (which I thought was the culprit) and added no follow tags to all outbound links on my two websites. I also applied for reinstatement in Google Webmaster Tools. Still no word yet. I initially heard it will take about 6-8 weeks for me to start seeing rankings come back. That means somewhere around January 1st I may get lucky with some SERPs.

It’s getting hard for me to even pay my hosting bills and other internet expenses. Luckily my Tim Tebow fan site has taken off and is helping to make up for the lost revenue (even though it’s only a fraction of what I was making). Until then, I’ll continue to stick it out through the new year in hopes that Google will bring me back.
