So Maybe I was Misled About YPN
I was so happy when I saw $17 in my account after only 1 day on YPN. I didn’t make any adjustments, I simply swapped out Adsense for YPN and watched the money roll in on my Myspace Resource site. Well, since then I have been a bit disappointed.
As you can see by the image below, my earnings are not that impressive. Ad impressions went up drastically since Day 2, but earnings went way down. And this isn’t a result of the amount per click I’m getting, it’s a direct result of a lack of clicks. The amount of clicks I had from Day 2 to Day 3 dropped in half. Same with Day 4. I don’t know if this is because the ads were new so people clicked on it because they hadn’t seen it before? It doesn’t make sense to me.
If the number of clicks doesn’t pick up today (Fridays and generally my highest traffic days around 2,000 uniques on a Friday), then I’m going to switch up the colors and placement. The amount per click I get on Yahoo is insane compared to Google. We’re talking .02 cents on Google and like 1.00+ on Yahoo. So I just need more clicks!

That is a real big difference between google and yahoo…
hmm maybe i should sign up with yahoo to..
my adsense cost per click rate is getting lower and lower, hope to see a follow up post on this one soon
I think that YPN might be just a little better than adsense for specific sites. On our blogs and the such, maybe adsense is better; however, for arcade sites, I think that YPN might be better. Depends on the site.
Strange. I guess you will just have to test, test, test. Seems odd that CTR would plummet on day 2 unless the ads that are showing are a lot different. I guess CTR on YPN is a lot less than Google.
This is normal for Yahoo. The ads are so not on target. Even if you double the traffic the number of clicks might be in the basement.
The only thing that speaks for leaving YPN on a site is the higher payout. 2 clicks on YPN ads can be worth 10 clicks on Adsense ads (depending on the overall topic).
But it requires testing. On one of my sites I made about $75/month from YPN and $110 from Adsense compared to that the next month. I’d rather take lower pay per click payouts if the number of clicks kicks YPN ….

[...] About 10 days ago I switched from Adsense to Yahoo Publisher Network. My initial findings were that I would make at least double what I had been making on Adsense for my site Pimp Myspace. A day or two later I thought I was misled about the success of YPN because I had some average days of only $7. So now it’s been 10 days and I feel I have solid data to look at and make my conclusions about YPN. [...]
