A week ago I posted about adding Adbrite interstitial ads to my website Pimp Myspace. I stressed my concerns about whether or not they make money because most people just click the “skip this ad” button at the top. When I was running just normal Adbrite network ads on the right sidebar and footer of my site, I was earning only $0.75 a day on 1600-2000 uniques/day. Since adding interstitial ads to my website, I am happy to report a huge increase in earnings.

As you can see in the image below, in the last 8 days I have earned $25.73 for an average of $3.22 a day. That is a massive increase in earnings by simply clicking an ‘on’ button in the Adbrite admin panel. I am now earning enough from Adbrite every month to pay for all my hosting costs. And it’s all because I added interstitial ads to my website.

Now, many of you may be thinking… well since those ads are so annoying won’t it deter traffic and ultimately you will lose uniques and not make as much money in the end. I initially had the same though, however I noticed quite the opposite. My traffic hasn’t dropped at all. It has actually increased! I’m not saying that my traffic increase has anything to do with Adbrite, but I am quite confident that it doesn’t hurt traffic.

Myspace users want their content. They’re used to having ads thrown in their face. They might not click on a lot of ads, but they will do it occassionaly, even if it’s by accident.

So if you’re running a site with some good traffic and you have a target demographic of younger people, like teenagers who are used to advertisements, then you might want to try putting the Adbrite interstitial ads on your site. A few extra bucks a day can go a long way.
