A New Adsense Record!
Yesterday I set a new Google Adsense earnings record. Weird huh? Well, I expected my earnings to go up a little bit, maybe around $15 or so because of the NCAA football game on last night. But not this high…This morning when I woke up and checked my final earnings for yesterday I was amazed to see $47.
$47 in one day is a record for me. It shattered my previous record of around $33 I set back in October. Nearly all of those earnings came from Fight Song Lyrics. I checked the traffic stats for that site and sure enough, traffic was up 10 times the norm. All the traffic was coming from Buckeye and Gator searches. It was great.
Today, earnings are up a little bit from normal as well, but not nearly as high as yesterday. It’s almost 2 PM EST, and I’m sitting at $12.55. I will probably get to $20 today assuming nothing drastic happens. As long as the cloud of the National Championship hovers over Gainesville, I should get a lot of traffic. Major sports outlets will keep talking about the game for another day or so. Once the buzz dies down, so will my earnings.
My total earnings for the month of January are $145 from Adsense. I’m on pace for just over $500, but like I said, once the buzz dies down so will my earnings. My goal is $380 for this month. Thanks to yesterday’s high earnings, I should be able to reach my goal.

That’s great news Dave! Looks like you struck (seasonal) gold with Fight Song Lyrics, if you can do that a couple more times then you’ll be ready to retire
[...] Just to give you a little case study, I’d like to point you to a site run by one of my buddies David Lithman: Fight Song Lyrics. Fight Song Lyrics is a simple site run off of what seems to be your basic lyrics CMS, probably downloaded free. A simple little logo up top and some good Adsense placement. Now off the top of my head I just can’t think of a much smaller seasonal niche than a website about fight song lyrics. According to one of David’s recent blog posts, his site just had a big spike in revenue. Now why would a website about fight song lyrics have a spike in revenue around this time? Could it be the BCS Championship game (despite the fact that the Gators are horrible and the game was fixed)? Yes. David saw the potential in this niche, and he knew going into it that he would probably only have real traffic during football season. He’s not raking in millions with Fight Song Lyrics, but I can guarantee you his profit margin is high - his only operating costs are most likely the domain and hosting. [...]
[...] I am proud to announce that my small network of sites set a new record yesterday for total earnings in 1 day from contextual advertising. In January, I set a new Adsense record. Back then I was only running Adsense, I didn’t have YPN on any of my sites. On January 8th, my Adsense earnings were $46.55 and my Adbrite earnings were $1.12 for a total of $47.67. [...]
