Keep em or Sell em ?
Hey everyone. Just another Monday here in sunny Florida…well, yes it is sunny here but also 45 degrees today. See, I live in Jacksonville, FL which is at the very northeastern tip of the state. We are not below the tropics so we do get season changes here. Not all of Florida is palm trees and beaches in January.
The New York Giants are coming to town tonight for some Monday Night Football against my Jaguars. It’s going to be a great game. Tom Coughlin returns to the house he built. Lots of emotions going on in this city. I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow. I hope I don’t freeze my butt off!
Keep em or Sell em?
So I built (or am in the process of building) 4 new sites this past weekend. I took advantage of some .net coupons I had and registered 4 domains. Since I love sports so much I decided to make some fan sites: Tracy McGrady, Dwayne Wade, Tom Brady, and Philip Rivers. They still have some work to do, especially with getting the sub pages up. But I have the color scheme and headers up on most of them. I plan on updated them daily with gamer performance blog posts as well as new pictures and quotes that come out. Go check it out.
I’m not sure however if I want to keep these sites and actually post on them everyday (like Joe Mauer and Ryan Howard) or if I just want to sell them off (like I did with my Randy Moss, Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez and Albert Pujols fan sites). I can probably sell any of these for around $50-75. I might need some extra cash since Christmas is coming up and all… We’ll see if I keep them. What do you think?
Weekend Adsense Earnings
- Friday - $14.31
- Saturday - $13.23
- Sunday $9.96
Not a bad weekend for me. Lately it seems like I’m doing better because of all the rivalry football games. Fight Song Lyrics is making me a lot, especially on the weekends.

I have to say, David, that I recommend keeping it yourself. You could update it yourself or just choose your favorite and update it every day while you sell the other three off. But I think that if you want to see an increase in your Adsense profits, you need to continue adding more to your network. But that is just my advice.
Congrats on the earnings David. I think you might be spreading yourself too thin with fansites though. If you want to make it big, you have to hang on to your properties for an extended amount of time (like a few years) and continue to grow them. I think being a little more generalized would help. For example, a rookie blog or something where there niche is bigger than a single individual. I mentioned this once before, I think you need to try and offload some of the creative work, a la ‘user generated content’. Also if you hold onto and develop a blog in wider niche than a single player, you could get guest bloggers who would write posts just so they could get a link in the post. The only way to do this though is to build up a single blog until it has good traffic, which takes time. Keep it up, I visit you everyday. Also one reason I check here everyday, is because you post more frequently than the other young entrepreneur blogs. I think frequent posting is very important to developing traffic as well.
[...] I took the advice of Marc, one of the guys who comments on my blog, and started a new site. About a month ago he suggested a site idea about a rookie blog. This site won’t be geared towards user generated content. I will write the content myself. Anyways, I decided to make a Rookie Blog, just as he suggested. There are no posts on it yet, but I did put up a header. I think the header needs some work, but it’s a start. I’ll probably write my first post today or tomorrow. Without further adu, I present to you Rookie Spot, the number 1 source for everything Rookies. [...]
