I know I haven’t posted in a few days, but this past weekend is one of the busiest, if not the busiest weekend of the year for me. On top of Florida Georgia weekend, it was also a big weekend for where I work. I had to come in for a few hours on Saturday and Sunday morning, not to mention I had to work until nearly 11:00 pm last night. However, the events are over and I can now get back into my daily routine.

Since I was so busy the past 4 days, I haven’t touched any of my websites. I was able to add a few videos to both MVP Flix and In Game Flix. MVP Flix traffic still hovers around 200 uniques/day and In Game Flix is around 30/day. It’s not much, but the videos are getting indexed a lot, and once the rankings start moving up I’ll be getting a lot of traffic.

“Reggie Bush Highlights” is the number 1 keyword for MVP Flix, while “JS Mugen” is the number 1 keyword on In Game Flix. My goal is to just flood these sites with as many videos as possible. I doubt I will ever rank higher in a search engine than youtube.com itself, but if I get enough videos on there I can hopefully bring in 100s of uniques/day and maybe get to $10/day for each site.

In earning news, I switched a couple of my sites to YPN the other day, and it’s not really working out any better than adsense. The clicks are worth a hell of a lot more, but since the ads aren’t targeted well I only get a few clicks. It’s pretty much a wash. I’ll be moving all my sites back to google tonight or tomorrow morning that way I can be online for November 1st when the new rev. starts acruing.

The Myspace Layout site I am partnered with, called SpaceTweaks, has been picking up as of late. Traffic is around 2,000 uniques a day with some days even higher. Every week the search engines pick up new keywords. We’re ranking really high for a lot of specific layout searches because all the content is unique. You won’t find any duplicate layouts or glitters on there. Also in the myspace network is Myspace Tables and Myspace Glitters.

I lso have an idea for a website I am thinking about launching. I haven’t thought of a domain or even decided if I want to pursue it, but I will keep everyone posted.

For those of you out of the college football loop, it’s Florida Georgia weekend!! The biggest night in all of college football. The day before the game is known as The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. We’re talking thousands and thousands of college fans for the Gators and Bulldogs rush downtown Jacksonville, Florida to the Jacksonville Landing. It’s a night of a lot of drinking, partying, and getting rowdy with the friends. The police baracade several blocks downtown because the party is so huge.

Jacksonville is the perfect place for this game and the party. The Landing is situated right on the St Johns River. It can’t get any better. I’ve been going to the game and the party for years. Sad news tonight though… 90% chance of showers! The first time I can remember that it’s supposed to rain during the cocktail party. What a bummer!

If it starts raining on us around 12:00am or 1:00am, people are going to die. There will be a massive rush to get inside, and frankly…there just isn’t enough room inside. Let’s all pray for good weather.

If I did this for a living, I would be seriously upset with the performance of my online earnings the latter half of October. On September 25th, I earned $19.50 from Adsense, on October 25th I earned $4.93. On September 25th, Fight Song Lyrics had 353 impressions and earned $3.26 and on October 25th, Fight Song Lyrics had 508 adsense impressions and only earned $1.88.

The trend is similar for all my sites. Increased traffic and impressions, but decreases in earnings. I have switched most of my earning sites to Yahoo Publisher Network last night, to see if there is a similar trend in that. I have already reached nearly $300 in Adsense for the month of October, so I can go a few days of testing and still get paid next month. If the trend continues, my November earnings will suck and I will hardly earn a check. I thought this time of the year was supposed to be big earnings because its getting close to the holiday shopping season.

Every now and then I get so bummed out when trying to make money. Like I really feel all the work isn’t worth it. Spending hours and hours a day to build up sites and hoping to make a couple dollars from Adsense. That’s not how we’re supposed to live.

I have still yet to come up with an awesome website/business that draws insane traffic. I’ve never had a site get more than 2,000 uniques/day. All my sites combined don’t even touch that. Reading forums like Digitalpoint and Sitepoint, people make it sound so easy to make money online. They slap something up and thousands of people go to it. Maybe they resort to spam?

I guess I’m just pissed and crying over the fact that I was pushing $20/day last month, and now I can hardly get to $5/day. And having a full-time job is not leaving me enough time to do anything about it. I wonder if there ever comes a time when you just pack up and quit the online biz. Maybe try my luck in something else? I’m not going to make that call anytime soon though. I’ve been trying to earn money online for about a year now. A whole YEAR!! And I’m still making peanuts. If I give another year of my life to web publishing, and still can’t come up with at least $50/day I think it’s a sign that this isn’t my calling. Some people have it and some people don’t. This career might not be made for me, no matter how much I like it.

When I woke up this morning, I checked my Google Adsense earnings for last night. A little lower than I’d like… it was only $9.35. But more importantly, I checked my payment history and noticed my September earnings said “Payment in Progress.” That’s $375 I have coming to me in the next day or two. I love having EFT, that way funds are instatly deposited in my bank account and I don’t have to worry about going to the bank with a check.

I would really like to take this money, and combine it with some of the funds from my proxy sale, and use it to buy a nice site making $50/mo or so. With that, I could possible push my monthly earnings for November to over $400. It’s a slow process of increasing my earnings, but within a years time I should have a high $xxx monthly income.

Cancel Hostgator 

Today is my last day of owning a hostgator account. Man do I procrastinate. I moved my last site from hostgator to my server this morning. Once the DNS propogates, hostgator will be no more!

I never really had any beef with Hostgator… they were always good to me and have great tech support. It was just time for me to move on.

Adversal

I decided to make a little more money on Layout Pimps by installing Adversal Popunders. They pay out $1.20 per 1,000 pageviews, or $6 per 1,000 uniques. I get around 400 uniques a day, so I can expect somewhere in the range of $2 a day extra by serving the pop unders. I personally think they’re annoying, but when it comes time to sell this site, having the extra revenue with make it more valuable. Plus, myspace users that browse resource sites daily are used to pop ups. Nearly all resource sites have them.

Doggy Directory

My Dog Directory is coming on a little slower than I anticipated. Apparently not that many people on webmaster forums own dog related sites. After all the ads I posted, I had only 11 submissions. Perhaps I should have made it pets in general, and not just dogs?

Well, that’s all I have for today. I have a super busy work week, not to mention Florida vs. Georgia is this weekend… so I’m getting amped for that.

For the first time on a Monday I think I am going to start out with a couple of small announcements. I have two new sites I am launching today. I will get into the details of each a little bit further down in the blog post.

I first want to start out discussing my monthly Adsense income. As of this morning, I have earned $261.15 from Adsense, with $73.93 in the last seven days. Earnings are hard to come by these days without my proxy, but if things stay on track I should still break $300 for the month. We have about 9 days left in October, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

Also on my mind is my $375 September payment I’m anticipating. Google EFT usually happen on the 25th of the month, so I’m hoping I will get paid sometime this week. I really want to use this money to buy a site making $30-40/month, but the quality of sites is awful right now. We’ll see what happens later this week.

Tech Lineup

Tech Lineup is the first site I want to introduce to you. This is the first technology related site that I have built, but with a little TLC I think this can become my most profitable site in a month or two’s time. Currently I am running the site on Joomla with a purchased template and custom logo. I have put in around $75 into this site so far, and if you follow this blog you will know that $75 is quite an investment for me. I hardly ever put money into a site.

Tech Lineup will be a computer hardware/software/gadgets review site. Currently, I will just have to review products of my own or pay people for reviews. But after the site has built up good content and a solid reader base, I am hoping companies will send me products to review.

The site is pretty much finished. I still need to change a few of the links, edit the urls, and then it will be ready to load up with content. I haven’t been more excited about a site launch in a long time.

Doggy Directory

Now I want to take some time to introduce a new directory I have put together. The site is a Dog Directory, with the title Doggy Directory. It runs on a paid version of PHPLD 3.06, and a free template I found online. Currently the directory has only 7 links. I sent out advertisements on all the major webmaster forums, so hopefully in a few days time I can build it up to 30 links or so.

The value in a directory only comes if it has pagerank. In order for my directory to make money I will need to spend money on incoming links from pet or directory sites. If I can build this directory into a PR4 or even PR5 site by the next update, then I should be able to sell featured links. But for right now, regular links are free and featured links are $5/year.

Other News

I submitted In Game Flix to stumble upon  on Friday and it had 1,700 uniques! LOL too bad none of them will return to the site. It’s very similiar to digg traffic. It’s not really good for anything.

It’s been pretty boring in the internet business part of my life the last few days. I’ve got a lot of projects on the table, I just can’t find the time to get any of the launched. I was able to secure a header banner for one of my sites/forums getting ready to be launched. It only cost me $10. It came from the same guy who made the MVP Flix and In-Game Flix headers. It’s good work for only $10. A header on sitepoint will run you at least $100.

Speaking of MVP Flix, this site was my top revenue producer yesterday. At nearly $5. Keep in mind this site is only like 2-3 weeks old, and had 400 unique hits yesterday and at any given time there are over 6 people online. I think for it to make more money though I will need to add a lot more content. The problem is I am running out of ideas for videos to post. I mean there are only so many Michael Jordan videos I can post. I try to post 3 new videos a day, sometimes 4 if I think of a good one throughout the day.  I would love to see this site making $10/day by itself by Christmas. I figure with 1,000 uniques/day I can do this.

Life after the Proxy 

Today is my second day Proxy free and I must tell you it feels good. Sure I won’t be making as much from Adsense, but having my sites up 99.9% of the time is well worth it. Not to mention I won’t have any legal problems from someone looking up illegal stuff through my proxy… no that wouldn’t look good for my image.

Yesterday I was quite pleased with my Adsense earnings even without the proxy. I pulled in just over $12. As of right now I am at $5.27 for today. By the time I go to bed it will probably be right around $10. I can’t be mad with that.

Commission Junction

I don’t remember if I mentioned this in my last post or not, but I am starting to expand into the world of online shops. I am proud ot announce that I have released my first online shop on my Joe Mauer fan site. I was accepted as a Lids affiliate (still waiting for mlb.com), so I have a variety of Twins hats, jackets, and jerseys. I had 1 click today, but it didn’t lead to a sale. I don’t figure to make any sales this time of year, but it’s nice to have an established shop ready for Spring Training.

Next up is my Ryan Howard fan site and Fight Song Lyrics. I doubt you will ever see a shop on Lithman.net
