My girlfriend had a girls night out tonight, and since I went out last night with my friends, I decided to stay in tonight and get some work done. Surprisingly, it doesn’t feel like I’ve accomplished that much. I still want to buy a domain or two tonight for a site I have in mind.

The Switch to YPN
I mentioned earlier about switching to YPN instead of Google Adsense. I completed the transition tonight by successfully converting all my sites to YPN. The targets of the ads aren’t that bad, but they still don’t have any of my keywords in them.

Along with switching to YPN, I also improved the ad positioning on Sonic Wild Fire and Medieval II. I used to run 728×90 ads in the footers of all the pages. I have changed that now and embedded 300×250 ads within the text of the pages. You can see an example here here and here. From what I’ve read on numerous forums, this is supposed to drastically improve CTR by having ads where people read text instead of having them at the footer where no one looks. If I had done this with Adsense, I probably could have increased my CTR by at least .5% on both those sites.

Free MySpace Backgrounds
I completed by 3rd Myspace site, http://www.freespacebackgrounds.net. It looks just like Layout Pimps. I don’t think I am going to keep this one. I will try to sell it for around $50. It took me about an hour to build the whole thing, so that’s pretty good money for the time spent.

That’s pretty much it for tonight. I just wanted to make a quick post about the work/updates I’ve made tonight.
